Formed in 1982, Prudence Gowns has nearly 30 years of experience in the Bridal trade and provides designer bridal gowns, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses, evening wear and prom, special occasion wear for mother of the bride/groom and men's formal hire wear to clients throughout the region. The company is based in Keyham (Plymouth). With a fully equipped sewing room and fully qualified staff, the company is able to offer a professional alteration service to all customers. The service enables clients to have a perfect fit on all garments purchased from the shop.

In April 2008 the founder, Mrs Pat Trevarton passed the Prudence Gowns Reigns on to new owner, Sonya McKay.  Sonya graduated with honours from University of Ulster with a degree in design which has proven invaluable to her growth of Prudence Gowns.  Since owning the shop, Sonya has added an extensive Mother of the Bride/Groom Boutique and a full Mens Formal Hire Wear Department.  In the New Year Prudence Gowns shall be introducing their own collection of bridesmaid and destination wedding dresses. 

Due to the increasing growth of the shop, a 50 sq m extension was built in September 2010 to house all the new collections and a new car park which can accommodate up to five vehicles.

The shop offers a unique collection of Bridal Gowns, from Designers such as Maggie Sottero, Sottero and Midgley, Ellis, Sincerity and Justin Alexander and most recently Blue by Enzoani. All dresses are sourced with great thought for every bride, with a wide range of sizes and styles for all budgets to make your special day perfect. The dresses are available to view in store, however it is advisable to make an appointment with a Bridal Consultant so that Prudence Gowns can help your journey to find your perfect dress.

Men's Formal Hire Wear

Fitting from 18 months to a 60" chest we can certainly fit all your bridal party!  Whether you fancy Top and Tails or Highland Wear we can assure that all your party will look smart.
